RAW Nutrition PUMP: A Stim-Free Onslaught
RAW Nutrition, a cutting-edge sports supplement brand from the creators of Revive MD, is finally here and we’re pumped to start covering their comprehensive product line! Last time RAW Nutrition was featured on the PricePlow Blog, we gave a brief overview of what to expect, but now it’s time to dive deep into each product to see what makes them stand out – and we’re starting with RAW Pump!
RAW Nutrition’s motto is “Built From The Ground Up“, which fits their product line exceptionally well. Their formulas are built from high quality ingredients that are backed by research and shown to deliver the results you’re looking for. On top of that, RAW Nutrition has nothing to hide — they post third party test results on their website, use fully transparent labels, and work with some of the best ingredient suppliers in the industry, like Nutrition21.
RAW Nutrition was created to fuel elite level athletes, competitors, and anyone else who takes their health and fitness goals seriously — people that have perfected their nutrition, training, sleep, and recovery, but are still looking for an extra edge. They take care of your sports performance supplements, so you can focus on everything else that will help you achieve your goals.
RAW PUMP: No Caffeine, Just Results!
RAW Nutrition offers a complete line of supplements geared towards optimizing your performance, and the one that stands out the most to us is RAW PUMP. We almost always instantly gravitate towards a new brand’s pre workout — but this time it’s a touch different. This isn’t your typical pre workout that’s loaded with caffeine… RAW Nutrition decided to take a completely different approach and create a stimulant-free pre workout with no caffeine whatsoever.
RAW Pump doesn’t contain caffeine but it has everything you need for an intense workout!
The name “RAW Pump” fits this product perfectly, since it’s loaded with clinically studied ingredients that are known for increasing blood flow, nutrient delivery, and muscular pumps! Matt Jansen, Co-Founder of RAW Nutrition, will always be a bodybuilder at heart, so it’s no surprise that he created a product that delivers skin splitting pumps.
Not only will RAW Pump increase your ability to get a pump, it will also boost your performance by helping shuttle nutrients and oxygen to your working muscles, allowing you to lift more weight for more reps, which in turn will lead to muscle growth (assuming protein, diet, and sleep are in line)! Furthermore, it contains a host of ingredients that enhance focus, mind-to-muscle connection, and muscular endurance.
One of the ingredients that stands out most in RAW Pump is none other than Nitrosigine from Nutrition21, a patented compound that’s clinically proven to outperform leading nitric oxide boosters on the market.
Everything you need to know about RAW Pump is down below, but before you read anymore — sign up for RAW Nutrition news and deal alerts because they’re just getting started!
RAW Pump Ingredient Breakdown
RAW Pump has a solid blend of ingredients that boost muscular endurance, power, and pumps, along with the mind-to-muscle connection and overall mental focus. It’s definitely a well-rounded stimulant free pre workout that has everything you need for an intense workout.
As you can see, the supplement facts panel features the dosages for each ingredient based on whether you want to do a one scoop or two scoop serving size. We always recommend starting with one scoop to assess your tolerance — and with how loaded this formula is, it may be all you need for a while, saving money. But since most of our readers are accustomed to these pre workouts, we’re going to see what the full two scoop serving delivers for this ingredient breakdown!
Without further ado, here’s what two scoops (~24g) of RAW Pump provides:
-
Nitrosigine (inositol-stabilized arginine silicate) – 1.5g
A completely transparent supplement facts panel!
Normally we go in descending order based on weight for ingredient breakdowns, but this time we are jumping straight to Nitrosigine! As you can tell from previous articles, PricePlow is a major proponent of Nitrosigine for several reasons, it’s a patented ingredient,[1] supported by several studies, safe, effective, and comes from a leader in the industry — Nutrition21.
What is Nitrosigine?
Nitrosigine consists of three main compounds — L-arginine, silicate, and inositol. L-arginine is a well known nitric oxide booster, meaning that it tells the blood vessels to vasodilate, allowing more blood flow to enter the extremities. However, there’s one big issue with pure L-arginine — when taken orally, a large percentage of it gets metabolized before it can be used for nitric oxide production.Move over L-arginine, Nitrosigine (inositol-stabilized arginine silicate) actually makes it work as originally desired!
Therefore, L-arginine needs some help in order for it to be a good pump ingredient, which is where silicate and inositol comes into play! By binding L-arginine to silicate and adding in inositol to serve as a stabilizer, the issue of poor bioavailability is solved with Nitrosigine. Instead of being rapidly metabolized, the L-arginine is readily absorbed in the small intestine and utilized for nitric oxide production, which is exactly what we want!
Studies show that Nitrosigine has much higher levels of bioavailability than other forms of arginine on the market, thus making it more effective overall.[1,2]
Nitrosigine Research
What’s even more interesting is that a study published in 2020, conducted by researchers from the University of Arkansas, found that 1.5g of Nitrosigine resulted in a similar increase in nitric oxide production and vasodilation (as measured by flow mediated dilation) as 8g of Citrulline Malate (~5.33g of pure L-citrulline).[3] This doesn’t necessarily mean that Nitrosigine is superior to citrulline malate, however based on weight, Nitrosigine reigns supreme and that allows more room for other ingredients to be added into a product.
A new study found that 1.5g of Nitrosigine was just as effective at boosting nitric oxide levels as 8g of citrulline malate![4]
Other studies have shown that Nitrosigine is able to enhance perceived levels of energy, cognitive flexibility and focus, combat muscle damage, improve recovery, and may reduce inflammation.[3-9] It’s no surprise that Nitrosigine is quickly becoming one of the most popular ingredients in the pre workout category. The clinically studied dose of Nitrosigine is 1.5g, thus if you’re looking to get the most out of RAW Pump, go with the full two scoops!
If you want to learn more about Nitrosigine, check out the two articles listed below:

Nitrosigine is the main ingredient we wanted to highlight, but RAW Pump has a lot more to offer, so let’s briefly cover the other ingredients!
Get what you pay for: Protected by CertainT
Nutrition21 is very protective of their patented ingredients, therefore they are the first to utilize a cutting edge technology called CertainT from Applied DNA Sciences to tag, test, and track their ingredients, which ensures that you’re getting what you paid for. Thus, if you see a brand that partners with Nutrition21, then you know they’re giving you some of the highest quality ingredients available!

L-Citrulline – 5g
If 1.5g of Nitrosigine wasn’t enough, RAW Pump also has a solid dose of pure L-citrulline, clocking in at 5g. Before Nitrosigine burst onto the scene, companies completely ditched using pure L-arginine as a nitric oxide booster when studies started to reveal that L-citrulline was better at increasing endogenous levels of L-arginine than arginine itself.[10]
Stack RAW Pump with RAW Burn for an epic training session!
L-citrulline is still one of the most common ingredients in both stim and non-stim pre workouts ,and for a great reason! L-citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that gets converted into L-arginine by the kidneys, and it’s able to bypass the issue of poor bioavailability that comes with L-arginine supplementation.[10]
After the L-citrulline gets converted into L-arginine, the arginine is acted upon by nitric oxide synthase to create nitric oxide.[10] As we mentioned with Nitrosigine, the nitric oxide tells your blood vessels to vasodilate.
Similar to Nitrosigine, L-citrulline leads to increased blood flow, nutrient and oxygen delivery, as well as increased removal of metabolic byproducts.[10] Furthermore, this process also creates more L-citrulline as a by-product, therefore the cycle repeats itself.
Overall, L-citrulline is a great pump and performance ingredient on its own, so combining it with Nitrosigine will likely yield even greater results!
-
Betaine Anhydrous – 5g
PricePlow is a huge fan of betaine anhydrous, but unfortunately we’ve seen it underdosed far too many times. However, we’ve rarely seen a pre workout with a dose as large as RAW Pump!
The clinically-verified dose is 2.5g, so even with one scoop you’re still going to reap the studied-benefits that betaine anhydrous has to offer! 5g will definitely fulfill your daily requirement of betaine, therefore expect to see improvements in muscular strength, power, endurance, and body composition.[11-13]
RAW Nutrition offers several high quality sports nutrition supplements!
Betaine is an organic compound that serves as both a methyl donor and osmolyte. It’s naturally found in beets and various other foods, which is likely how it got its name. Within the scientific literature, you’ll also see betaine referred to as trimethylglycine — representing its chemical structure. By serving as an osmolyte, betaine helps regulate the influx of fluid inside and outside of cells, therefore it plays an important role in hydration and making cells more resilient to outside stressors.[11]
More importantly, betaine is able to donate a methyl group to a non-proteinogenic amino acid called homocysteine, which is formed from the metabolism of the essential amino acid methionine.[11] If homocysteine levels get too high, it can start to negatively affect crucial physiological functions such as protein synthesis and insulin signaling.[11] Since betaine has three methyl groups it can spare one to homocysteine, which converts it back into methionine.[11]
In addition, methionine can be used to create creatine — a compound that plays a key role in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production during exercise. Other studies have shown that betaine stimulates insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1), boosts lipolysis in fat cells, assists in the browning of white adipose tissue, and reduces lipogenesis.[12,13] Thus, it’s no surprise that betaine can help improve lean muscle mass and overall body composition!
-
Beta Alanine – 2g
The next ingredient included in RAW Pump is here to help increase your muscular endurance and it’s none other than beta alanine!
RAW Nutrition decided to go with a modest dose of 2g, which should be enough to see some benefits, but not too much that you will start itching your face off. If you’ve ever taken a pre workout and felt an itchy or tingling sensation (also known as paresthesia), there’s likely a fair amount of beta alanine included because that’s one of its harmless side effects. However, the research is clear that beta alanine significantly enhances performance (at 3.2g/day), so it’s worth dealing with the temporary itchy sensation.
RAW Protein features 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate for 100% gains.
Beta alanine is one of the amino acids that’s used to create carnosine — a dipeptide molecule that helps buffer lactic acid.[14] Studies show that beta alanine supplementation is effective at boosting intramuscular carnosine levels, which is the main reason why its capable of increasing muscular endurance.[14]
As you exercise, metabolites, such as lactic acid, start to build up in the working muscles — this causes the pH to drop — making the environment more acidic. Not only do you start to feel the burn, your body is less efficient at keeping up with energy production.
Eventually you’ll reach exhaustion and not be able to run another lap or do another set. Since beta alanine is effective at increasing the amount of intramuscular carnosine levels, it can help fight off the onset fatigue — meaning that you can exercise harder for longer periods of time![14,15] Although the most profound effects are found with activities lasting between 1-4 minutes, a fair amount of evidence has shown that beta alanine supplementation benefits both anaerobic and aerobic activities![14,15]

L-Tyrosine – 2g
Get ready for locked in focus with 2g of L-tyrosine — PricePlow’s preferred form of tyrosine supplementation.
If you’re familiar with the supplement industry, then you’ve probably seen the two primary forms of tyrosine on the market — L-Tyrosine and N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT), however one is better than the other. Despite the fact that NALT is more water soluble, it fails to increase endogenous levels of tyrosine better than L-tyrosine. Therefore, we prefer to see L-tyrosine on a supplement facts panel.[16] You can tell that RAW Nutrition looked into the research because they’re using a solid dose of pure L-tyrosine for RAW Pump!
What is tyrosine anyways?
Long story short from our analysis — For the best effects from tyrosine, choose the regular L-Tyrosine version!
Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that’s endogenously produced by the body using an essential amino acid called phenylalanine.[17,18] Although tyrosine is involved in several physiological processes, we’re most concerned with its ability to enhance the production of key neurotransmitters, including dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.[17,18]
In case you’re unfamiliar, chemical neurotransmitters are used to carry out every single bodily function. They serve as chemical messengers that help the central nervous system (CNS) communicate with the peripheral nervous system (PNS). If your neurotransmitters get depleted due to stressful situations such as exercise, then you’ll slowly lose the connection between your mind and body, and you’ll also lose focus and motivation. Within the bodybuilding world, this is known as the mind-to-muscle connection — a key component of getting a pump and having better performance.
Therefore, by supplementing with an exogenous source of tyrosine, you’re able to keep synthesizing enough neurotransmitters for optimal performance.[17,18] One of the catecholamine neurotransmitters that gets produced from tyrosine is dopamine, commonly referred to as your “feel-good” neurotransmitter.[17,18]
Dopamine is involved in feelings of pleasure, reward, movement, and motivation. Research shows that enhanced levels of dopamine leads to a better tolerance to intense and extended bouts of exercise.[17,18] In addition, tyrosine has been shown to improve mood and cognitive performance during times of acute stress, such as exercise.[17,18]
If you want to learn more about tyrosine check out our article titled L-Tyrosine vs. N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine: A Tale of Two Tyrosines.
In summary, L-tyrosine is a solid addition to RAW Pump and we still have four more ingredients to go!
-
Agmatine Sulfate – 1.5g
In order to make sure that you get skin splitting pumps guaranteed and increased focus, RAW Nutrition included 1.5g of agmatine sulfate! This is an ingredient that is seen in fewer pre workouts the past couple of years, but we’ve always enjoyed it – especially at doses over 1g!
Elite level athletes fuel their training with RAW Nutrition EAA!
Agmatine sulfate is a metabolite of L-arginine, meaning that it gets produced from arginine metabolism.[19] Agmatine sulfate is known for its ability to serve as an arginase inhibitor, therefore it prevents the breakdown of arginine.[19] This is very advantageous since RAW Pump has both Nitrosigine and L-citrulline working to increase arginine levels — agmatine sulfate is here to make sure arginine levels stay elevated for the entire workout!
Nitrosigine, L-citrulline, and agmatine sulfate are the triple threat for maximal arginine production, leading to more nitric oxide synthesis and better pumps! In addition, research shows that agmatine sulfate is capable of activating the enzyme that produces nitric oxide — nitric oxide synthase.[20]
If that wasn’t enough, agmatine sulfate may also give you a slight boost in focus since it seems to express neuromodulatory properties and can act as a neurotransmitter![21] Agmatine is another strong addition to RAW Pump and with 1.5g — expect to get enhanced focus, pumps, and mind-to-muscle connection!
-
L-Taurine – 1.5g
To boost muscular endurance and enhance hydration, RAW Nutrition added in 1.5g of L-taurine — a sulfur-containing amino acid that offers a wide array of health and performance benefits!
Taurine is involved in several important bodily functions, including bile salt production, osmoregulation, immunomodulation, and expresses potent antioxidant properties.[22,23] In addition, taurine assists in the maintenance of calcium levels and promotes proper eye and central nervous system functioning.[22,23]
Matt Jansen knows what it takes to build an incredible physique and supplement brand.
Since taurine takes on various key roles, but is endogenously produced, it’s classified as a conditionally essential amino acid.[22,23] Meaning that taking extra through supplementation may not be needed, however under certain circumstances, it can be very beneficial. For example, a high intensity training session can take a toll on the body, thus supplying it with an extra dose of taurine is likely needed. Research even shows that taking just 1g of taurine per day can significantly boost muscular endurance, not to mention the health benefits you get from it![22,23]
As of writing this article, additional research is warranted to fully understand taurine’s mechanism of action for increasing muscular endurance. However, the currently accepted hypothesis is that taurine is capable of maintaining adequate levels of calcium in both cardiac and skeletal muscle, leading to more efficient muscular contractions.[22,23] Calcium is absolutely essential for carrying out muscular contractions, thus this is a sound theory.
If you want to learn more about taurine, read our post titled TAURINE: The Underrated Endurance Supplement (New Meta-Analysis!).

Himalayan Pink Sea Salt – 1g
The next ingredient in RAW Pump is Himalayan pink sea salt at a massive 1g dose — delivering approximately 420mg (20% DV) of sodium. Besides water and eating a carbohydrate containing meal pre workout, salt plays a huge role in not only the muscular pump, but also athletic performance.[24]
For those days when you need an extra boost, RAW Intra has you covered!
If you’re a “salty sweater” and fail to consume enough sodium to replace what you lost during exercise, then you could suffer from muscular cramps, decreased performance, and in extreme cases, hyponatremia.[24] This is why just drinking water all day with no other electrolytes doesn’t make the cut when you’re trying to achieve optimal performance. Sodium is a key component for the conduction muscular contractions, along with potassium and calcium. Since RAW Nutrition used Nitrosigine, you’re also getting a small amount of potassium (~25mg) to go along with the sodium.
Instead of just using any form of salt, RAW Nutrition decided to go with Himalayanpink sea salt since it offers a wide range of benefits, including improved digestion through the stimulation of hydrochloric acid production. Furthermore, Himalayan pink sea salt consists of more than just sodium chloride, it also contains several beneficial minerals, including potassium and magnesium.

Lion’s Mane Extract (Hericium erinaceus) – 300mg
The last ingredient to round out RAW Pump’s fully loaded formula is 300mg of Lion’s Mane Extract, also known as Hericium erinaeceus.
Lion’s Mane is known for its powerful nootropic effects, meaning that it helps increase cognition, focus, mental clarity, energy, and alertness. Lion’s Mane is a mushroom that’s been used for thousands of years in Japanese and Traditional Chinese Medicine.[25-27] Traditionally, Lion’s Mane was touted for its healing properties,[25-27] but now it dominates the dietary supplement industry in both the pre workout and nootropic category.Lion’s Mane is an incredible mushroom that touts some extremely unique nootropic benefits including increasing Nerve Growth Factor.
Since RAW Pump doesn’t contain any caffeine, they wanted to include a few ingredients that would deliver laser focus, which is exactly why L-tyrosine and Lion’s Mane is in this formula!
Lion’s Mane is rich in beta-glucans, erinacines, erinacea lactones, hericerines, and glycoproteins, which are attributed to its beneficial effects.[28] Research shows that Lion’s Mane expresses anti aging, anticancer, antibiotic, anti-fatigue, neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and brain boosting properties.[28,29]
In addition, Lion’s Mane is one of the few supplements that’s capable of stimulating Nerve Growth Factor within the brain — a neuropeptide that plays a key role in nerve regeneration and growth.[30,31] Needless to say, if there was ever a magical mushroom that existed, it would be Lion’s Mane!
For more information, read our in-depth article on Lion’s Mane: The Nerve Growth Nootropic Mushroom.
